Born in Bangor, Huw’s early years were spent in Benllech on Anglesey’s east coast, before the family moved to Betws y Coed in Snowdonia. The landscapes of his formative years have continued to inspire him. He attended Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy in Llanrwst before a Foundation course and Fine Art course at Liverpool. He worked as a photographer and civilian scenes of crime officer for North Wales Police then teaching art at Secondary schools in South Wales, Essex and Bangor. Returning to North Wales was the impetus he needed to concentrate on painting and during the last decade he has been developing his own distinctive style. His work is now featured in many collections and he has worked on a number of commissions.
